KANGOL® is excited to announce their latest runway collaboration with Marc by Marc Jacobs (MBMJ) for the Spring/Summer 2013 show. The MBMJ menswear design team has tapped into the heritage headwear company’s aesthetic to provide the ideal hats to top off their latest collection.
The limited edition headwear incorporates vibrant colors along with knitted checks and plaid jacquards that coordinate with MBMJ’s Spring 2013 ready-to-wear line. Additionally, a graffiti inspired ‘tag’ was incorporated into KANGOL’s iconic shapes. KANGOL’s Design Director, Nic Harris, worked with the MBMJ men’s design team to translate woven fabric swatches from the spring offerings and re-interpret classic KANGOL fabrications which include a colour blocked Casual and a block striped Ventair Tropic 504 flat cap. Nic Harris said, “I really enjoyed working with the Marc Jacobs team as their love of KANGOL resulted in high fashion versions of heritage styles.” The Kangol collaboration marks the latest in Marc Jacobs’ rich history of aligning with like-minded brands, artists and designers.
A new embroidered logo was created to commemorate the collaboration. The Marc by Marc Jacobs logo forms a semi-circle above the signature KANGOL kangaroo. The collection also features a custom woven internal label reading, “MARC BY MARC JACOBS Y KANGOL”
The collection will be sold at Marc by Marc Jacobs stores and select retailers nationwide, with wholesale prices ranging from $26 to $32.
